PORCELAIN CROWNS IN ALBUQUERQUE
DENTAL CROWNS: THE BASICS
Since a crown fully covers your tooth, it can repair many types of structural damage. Dr. Kelly may recommend a crown if you have a cracked or broken tooth. If you have a cavity that has affected a large portion of your tooth, a crown can often restore its function much more effectively than a standard dental filling.Today's crowns provide a reliable and aesthetically-pleasing way to restore your smile. A crown can easily provide cosmetic benefits, particularly since we offer tooth-colored porcelain restorations.
THE PROCEDURE DETAILS
During a dental crown placement, Dr. Kelly will first numb the treatment area and carefully trim away any damaged dental tissue, creating a strong base for your restoration. He uses very conservative techniques, and you should experience minimal discomfort during this process. When he has prepared the tooth, he will then take impressions.Laboratory technicians at an off-site facility will use these molds to design and create your crown. The skilled experts will carefully match the porcelain so that it blends with the natural shade of your tooth enamel.
Once the crown is complete and has been sent back to our office, Dr. Kelly will place the crown and make sure that it looks natural and fits correctly. When you are both satisfied with the restoration, he will permanently attach it to your tooth. In many cases, Dr. Kelly can use our advanced E4D technology to provide same-day dental crowns. After reshaping your tooth, he will take 3-D digital impressions and design your crown using a chairside computer. The designs will be uploaded to a milling machine which will can produce your crown in one hour or less. Our E4D system uses advanced restorative materials, so your crown will be a precise match to the shade of your teeth.
